“The exhibition From Heaven to Earth – explains Walter Scotucci who is its curator – is an artistic exhibition that proposes as its theme a journey through the iconography of the saints in the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The city that hosts it, San Severino Marche, has a rich heritage of works of art depicting holiness made in various eras by important masters of the past such as the brothers Salimbeni, Vittore Crivelli, Alunno, Lorenzo d’Alessandro, Bernardino di Mariotto and others. Starting from the concept that art, both ancient and modern, must always be considered contemporary, this exhibition combines the paintings of the past with other living artists who reproduce the same iconographic theme. Complex wooden apparatuses in art galleries or altarpieces in places of worship, end up in dialogue – explains Scotucci – with works exhibited in unusual spaces of the city center”.
The event was also attended by the art critic Vittorio Sgarbi for the presentation of the volume “From Heaven to Earth. From Michelangelo to Caravaggio”.
