“April 6, 1520” is the title of this work I’ve just completed today to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest painters mankind has ever seen: Raphael Sanzio of Urbino, who was born and died on April 6 and always on Good Friday. The maiden depicted is Margherita Luti who went down in history as Fornarina and who was the great inspirational muse and great love of the “Divine Painter,” modelling for countless masterpieces, here portrayed in the desperate and incredulous wait for “her” Raphael who will never return… Honor to the Genius.
