Genius Dei

The constant search for God made Leonardo the greatest mystical explorer among the artists of his time. In this work, the Master, does not point to heaven like St. John the Baptist, whom he painted with utter certainty, but wanders with his index finger to an indefinite “high,” only the Child God towering over the scene knows where his creature is, infusing it with his genius. At this point, the life-giving Spirit gives life, through Leonardo, to Mona Lisa, no longer a painting but a flesh-and-blood, eternal, incorruptible woman. The circle closes and the mystery of Art is fulfilled.
